The Bi-Ups ® Technology

• Provides any host computer system with embedded un-interruptible protection.
• Will occupy the same mechanical outline as the internal switched-mode power supply it replaces.
• Protection depends on the capacity of the back-up battery source.
• Suspend/Resume software enhances BI-UPS® by reducing battery capacity.

When there is a utility blackout, the software automatically saves the contents of operating memory to disk before initiating a controlled shutdown.

The Advantages of Bi-Ups®

BI-UPS dimensions are the same as the SMPS it replaces.

• Some additional real estate is required for the battery.

An external UPS reduces the electrical efficiency of the power system.

• Battery capacity requirements are significantly reduced by using BIUPS.
• The saving in battery costs and real estate can be significant, particularly where long-term UPS support is required, such as industrial installations or telecommunication base stations (7-8 hours).
• The BI-UPS technology can readily be incorporated in any existing SMPS design.
• Prototyping is rapid.
• Performance of the host SMPS is not affected by adding BI-UPS circuit.
• Reduced development cycle.
• BI-UPS technology can readily be licensed to SMPS vendors.

The BI-UPS is more reliable than cascaded external UPS.

• BI-UPS MTBF is identical to that of the SMPS it replaces.

• Interfacing with the host computer is greatly simplified (there is no need for an external serial interface which would be required by an external UP.

BI-UPS® also enhances the power supply to provide uninterruptible power, exceeding the performance criteria required by Intel specifications, with no impact to overall mechanical dimensions.
